This modality speaks for itself in that it reaches deeper layers of muscles. Through slower, heavier, and more detailed strokes, it is used to break down knots and relieve deeper, buried tension, stress, or pressure that may be held throughout the body. Breathwork is always important to remember when receiving deeper work!
This Japanese spiritual healing practice works along the energetic fields surrounding the body to help locate any disruptions that may be causing stress, fatigue, anxiety or pain. Any fractures found are then treated through touch and non-touch approaches, gently encouraging us to return to our own unique, grounded functioning level.
The goal of these modalities is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart and throughout the body. Swedish decreases muscle toxins and tensions, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and calms the nervous system. Lymphatic work encourages healthy flow of lymph throughout the body and helps relieve swelling in areas after injury or illness.
Hot Stone Massage is often paired in a dance with Swedish Massage. Stones are heated and used with oils to sooth, warm, and massage your muscles. This allows you to reach a deeper state of relaxation as we improve overall circulation, boost the immune system, and melt away any tensions held throughout the body.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which cups are placed on the skin in order to create a suction that decompresses muscles and connective tissue. This promotes blood flow to the compromised area, enhances circulation, and helps to increase the body's own healing processes. It's almost like a backwards deep tissue massage!
